All CSAS awards are open only to CSAS members (with the exception of the student awards). The CSAS also is calling for nominations for Honorary
Lifetime Members of the society. Although the Executive does its best to recognize
deserving members and nominate them as Honorary Lifetime Members, we
appreciate your help in identifying deserving individuals.

Fellowship Award

This is the highest honour bestowed by the Society to members who have
made an outstanding contribution in any field of animal agriculture.
Award for Excellence in Nutrition
and Meat Sciences
Sponsored by: Shur-Gain
This award is made to recognize excellence in teaching, research, or
technology transfer in the area of animal nutrition or meat science.
CSAS and AIC fellowship recipients are ineligible.
Award for Technical Innovation in
Enhancing Production of Safe Affordable Food
Sponsored by: Elanco
This award recognizes excellence in technical innovation and
teaching with particular emphasis in the fields of biotechnology, genetics,
physiology and animal behavior. The award requires a demonstration that
the recipient had contributed to the production of safe and affordable
food. CSAS and AIC fellowship recipients are ineligible.
Young Scientist Award
Sponsored by: Pfizer
This award recognizes the achievements of new members of the research
community who have demonstrated excellence in any area of animal science.
Nominees must have obtained their Ph.D. in the last 7 years.
Animal Industries Award in Extension
and Public Service - Ruminants
Sponsored by: Dairy Farmers of Canada and Canadian Cattlemen's Association
Awarded to recognize outstanding service to the dairy and beef industries
of Canada in technology transfer, leadership, and education in animal
science.
Animal Industries Award in Extension
and Public Service -
Non-Ruminants
Sponsored by: Canadian Pork Council and Chicken Farmers of Canada
Awarded to recognize outstanding service to the poultry and swine industries
of Canada in technology transfer, leadership, and education in animal
science.
Honorary Life Memberships
These awards recognize active members who have recently retired and
have shown support of the CSAS aims and objectives. Note:
Nominations are not required for Honorary Life Membership (selection
of recipients is based on the CSAS membership list; however, the Honours
and Awards Committee would appreciate members identifying potential
recipients).
Graduate Student Paper Competition Awards
Sponsored by: Pfizer
These awards are made to the top three presentations during the Graduate Student Competition at the national Annual Meeting.
Graduate Student Poster Competition Awards
Sponsored by: Novus International
These awards are made to the three best poster presentations at the national Annual Meeting. Students must be a member of the society to be eligible for the award
CSAS Undergraduate Award
Sponsored by: Canadian Society of Animal Science
These are awarded by the Society to recognize superior academic
achievement during the first three years of study within each of the Faculties
of Agriculture at each Canadian university. The award consists of a framed certificate and cheque.

Awards Nomination Process
Nominations (except for Honorary Life Membership) must be accompanied
by four copies of the following:
- Name of nominator(s).
- Name of nominee(s).
- Date and place of birth.
- Home address of nominee.
- Reason for nomination: a statement (approximately one-half to one
page in length) of why this particular nominee is being proposed.
- Education - Post secondary.
- Record of employment.
- Service to the profession (books and papers published, courses and
number of students taught, industry activities, consolations, overseas
involvement, etc.).
- Honors and awards already held.
- Summary of the important part of the documentation (maximum of 250
words).
- For nominees for the Canadian Animal Industries Award in Extension
and Public Service, letters of support from farm organizations on
a local, provincial and/or national level is required.
- Deadline for nominations: April 15, 2008.

by April 15, 2008. Please remember that all awards, with the exception of the student awards, are open to CSAS members only.
Letters of support may be e-mailed, or printed copies
