Greetings!

As President of the Canadian Society of Animal Science, I would like to welcome you to our web site and hope that you find it of benefit.

This year your Executive will attempt to meet the needs of professionals working in the field of animal science through increased communication with the members of our society. Our goal will be: "Moving the science to the end-user".

In the future, it will be essential that the research findings are put into use by the Canadian livestock industry in order that we continue to remain competitive in the global economy. Currently, we are discussing ways that our society can meet the needs of the nutrition industry. It is our hope that all professionals working in the field of animal science and animal nutrition will become involved with our society.

We welcome the newly elected members of the Executive and thank Erasmus Okine, Karen Schwartzkopf-Genswein, Robert Berthiaume, and Julie Small for their efforts on last year's Executive. This year, Paul McCaughey, President Elect, will look after the web site, and Mike Dugan, Vice President, will be the contact for future conferences. John Basarab, Director at Large, will help obtain sponsorship for the annual conference along with Lyle Rode who is our industry contact person. Kees Plaizer, Western Director, and Steve Miller, Eastern Director, will be involved with membership issues; Johanne Chiquette, Eastern Director, and Kim Stanford, Western Director will help with the Awards Committee and Christiane Girard will continue as Secretary Treasurer.

We will be using the email system to keep our members up to date this year. If you have information or news that would be of interest to CSAS members please forward it to me.

Please encourage all of your colleagues working in the field of animal science to become involved with the Canadian Society of Animal Science this year.

All the best,

Duane McCartney
